The study of the neurotropic peptides role in cell responses regulation
All rights reserved. Semax, Selank and Proglyprol are novel peptide drugs with a broad range of activities in central nervous system. Semax is particularly beneficial to individuals with ischemic stroke attacks and other forms of brain traumatic damage and also demonstrates good results for the treatment of cognitive disorders, optic nerve diseases, and peptic ulcers. Selank possesses strong anxiolytic properties, but it also has an immunomodulatory activity. Tripeptide Pro-Gly-Pro (proglyprol or PGP) is an inherent structural component of both previous drugs, but its own ability to protect various cells from noxious factors makes it a good medication, while rather simple Proglyprol structure provides a basis for further chemical modification. Some aspects of possible mechanisms of biological activities of the mentioned peptides have been elucidated, but their role in the regulation of cellular responses remains elusive.
