Total synthesis of 19(RS)-F-LTA4methyl ester

The first total synthesis of 19(RS)-fluoroleukotriene A4methyl ester 8 is presented. The strategy focuses on ω-1 functionalized phosphonium salt as (3(Z)-8-fluorononenyl)triphenyl phosphonium iodide 6 and its coupling with epoxydienal 7. © 1995.
