The initiation of transformed root culture from Rhaponticum carthamoides

A culture of transformed roots of Rhaponticum carthamoides (Willd.) Iljin was initiated by transformation of plant axenic seedlings with Agrobacterium rhizogenes A4abc. The line of hairy roots obtained and the rhizomes of intact plants differed in ecdysteroid concentration and composition.
