Skills
I am proficient in optical (IR-, CD-, fluorescence spectroscopy), radiospectroscopy (NMR, ESR) techniques and computational methods (Molecular Dynamics etc.) for studying the structure of membrane-active polypeptides, as well as their interaction with lipid and biomembranes. I have programming skills in Python.
Scientific interests
Membrane active polypeptides: structure and interaction with lipid and biomembranes.
Scientific results
I have studied the structural-functional relationships among cytotoxins from cobra venom and linear toxins from spider venom. The former belong to the family of three-finger proteins with 4 disulfide bonds and are characterized by a completely beta-sheet structure. The latter do not possess any disulfide bonds. As a rule, they are disordered in aqueous solution, but acquire a completely or partially alpha-helical structure when interacting with lipid membranes or components of biomembranes. Based on the results of this study, a doctoral dissertation is being prepared. The work on the RSF project 24-25-00160 (Design of antimicrobial peptides based on membrane-active toxins of animal venom against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) has been completed successfully.
