IBCh RAS will take part in the government program for pupils “Academic Class”
19th January the representatives of the Federal Agency for Scientific Organizations (FASO Russia), Department Education of Moscow and the heads of 17 schools of Moscow visited the Shemyakin&Ovchinnikov Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The purpose of the visit was a meeting where administration of the Institute and guests discussed a joint work within the framework of the FASO Russia project “Academic Class” (Science and Technology class in Moscow school).

The event was organized by the Science-Educational Center of the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry. The meeting was opened by director of the Institute Vadim Ivanov who welcomed the guests. At the meeting some guests made a speech: the Deputy Head of the coordination and activities of the organizations in the field of Science of the FASO Russia Dmitry Tsyganov, the Deputy Director of the Department of Education of Moscow Mikhail Borodin, the Head of the Science-Educational Center of the IBCh RAS Tatyana Ovchinnikova, the Chairman of the Council of young scientists of the IBCh RAS Mikhail Akimov.

Participants of the meeting discussed a wide range of issues related to the implementation of the project and considered options for cooperation during the year. At the end of the meeting the Council of young scientists organized an excursion to the scientific laboratories of the Institute and to the Experimental biotechnology Plant for the heads of Moscow schools.

The aim of the project "Academic Class" is to develop students' skills of scientific research on the modern equipment, the formation of a natural-science outlook and thinking, providing practice-oriented vocational training model for qualitative preparation of students for future career development. Lectures of a leading scientists, excursions to research institutions, the implementation of research projects and early career guidance are the possibilities, which project "Academic class" is opening for the Moscow pupils.
